Chef James Fox has the Phoenix food scene running through his veins. He was born and raised in North Phoenix, attended culinary school at Le Cordon Bleu in Scottsdale and has worked at and helped open many of the biggest restaurant names around town today. James started his restaurant career working with Chef Matt Carter at Zinc Bistro in Kierland before heading with him to help open The Mission in Old Town Scottsdale. James was the executive chef in charge of opening Milagro Grill, an upscale, Mexican inspired concept, and two Bootleggers modern barbecue restaurants. These roles included overseeing back of the house operations, creating all menus and being a face for the restaurants at festivals and select TV appearances. Chef Fox was also part of the opening teams at Southern Rail and Buck & Rider, and worked as the executive chef for the LGO Group at their gastropub concept in Santa Monica called The Misfit. James and his wife, Raenee, owned and operated their first business, Fox & Farmer, a food truck in upstate NY focused on creative and refined takes on global street food. In 2018 James and Raenee sold their business in NY to plant roots back in Phoenix and open Vecina. Vecina, Modern American - Latin Inspired, was quickly nominated for James Beard Best New Restaurant 2020, six months after opening. James and Raenee have diligently been looking for their next right step in the Phoenix area to grow and diversify their brand.
