Born in Nogales, Mexico, she was raised in Phoenix and became interested in a culinary career in high school. Yulissa took cooking classes during her last two years, winning a scholarship that led her to take a pastry class at the Classic Cooking Academy in Scottsdale. She then went on to work at Bink’s Midtown, Bink’s Kitchen & Bar, and Mirabel Golf Club. In April 2017, she joined the Hearth ‘61 team as a cook and helped open the restaurant, later being promoted to sous chef in February 2018 and finally to chef de cuisine in December 2022. In her current role, she is responsible for daily operations and the menu at Hearth ’61.
